WHO WE ARE

Welcome to Shanghai’s Euskal Etxea (Basque House), the only Euskal Etxea that can be found (at least yet) in China or Asia.

Located in Shanghai’s downtown, near the French Concession, the aim of the Euskal Etxea is to join all the basque people living in or coming to China in a homely environment.

Shanghai’s Euskal Etxea was founded in 2004 with the hardwork and initiative of 17 Basque colleagues. Up to then, they only met when Basque businessmen or politicians came to China. Nowadays, most of the Basque people living in or coming to China on business are members of Shanghai Euskal Etxea. In addition, some of the Basque companies established in China are also members of Shanghai Euskal Etxea.

Apart from being just a meeting point for the Basque people, it is also the organizer of many different events: Basque Country’s festivals, meeting point of Basque politicians and businessmen…and of course, it is part of the Shanghai’s socio-cultural live: organizing Mus Competitions (Basque “poker”), relationship with other existing cultural organizations, etc.
